Hi, I’m Shoshana Ruttner, the heart behind Aglow Photography. I launched this business over 20 years ago, when my daughter was just three years old—though in many ways, the journey started the day she was born.

From the very beginning, I was drawn to capturing everyday moments. Armed with my trusty film camera, I documented her life one frame at a time. Each week, I’d visit the local photo lab, develop a roll of film, and lovingly fill our family albums with those memories.

One day, I came across an ad for Dawson College’s brand new digital photography program, and everything changed. 5 years earlier, I had been enrolled in their commercial photography program, but had to step away during my pregnancy due to the chemical exposure involved with darkroom work. Now, with digital photography eliminating that concern, it felt like a sign—it was time to return to what I loved.

I bought my first digital camera (a whopping 8 megapixels!) and dove headfirst into my studies. I learned how to craft images not just in-camera, but also in post-production, working with digital editing tools in the computer lab instead of the darkroom.  The experience was transformative—but the most valuable lessons came after graduation, through real-world experience and connecting with people through the lens.

Today, after more than two decades behind the camera, I still approach each session with the same passion and curiosity. I specialize in capturing the genuine, the joyful, and the in-between moments that make your story uniquely yours.
